Vocal performer

Timothy Wilds, a native of Asheville, NC, is an accomplished and experienced performer in concert and on stage.  He regularly performs with Fuma Sacra, a professional vocal ensemble based in NJ, under the direction of Dr. Andrew Megill.  The ensemble specializes in Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music and has recently performed with such notable Baroque wind and string ensembles as Tempesta di Mare and Piffaro of Philadelphia; Brandywine Baroque of the Delaware Valley and at the Connecticut Early Music Festival. Recent concerts by Fuma Sacra featured music by Monteverdi, Schütz, Schein and J.S. Bach's St. John Passion.

  • Homemade Operetta by the Guerilla Divas featuring the music of Gilbert and Sullivan in Brevard, NC;
  • Buxtehude's Membra Jesu Nostri and Bach's Cantata 4 at the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC.  Dr. Andrew Megill conducting a choir composed of members from the Westminster Choir and Fuma Sacra;
  • a solo artist recital for the Asheville Lyric Opera Guild in Asheville, NC;
  • a joint recital by Ashevile Lyric Opera members for Midday Musicals in Asheville, NC;
  • a joint benefit recital by Asheville Lyric Opera members for St. Matthias Church in Asheville, NC;

He has also performed as a soloist with the Alton (IL) Symphony Orchestra; the Asheville (NC) Symphony Orchestra; the Asheville Choral Society; the Asheville Symphony Chorus; the Garden State Philharmonic in Toms River, NJ; the Hendersonville (NC) Chorale; the Masterworks Chorale in Belleville, MO; the Masterwork Chorus in Morristown, NJ; the Raritan Valley (NJ) Community Orchestra and Master Chorale; and the UNC-Asheville Community Chorus.

Choral director

In his thirty years as a choral director, Mr. Wilds has directed choirs for essentially every age group while serving as a choral director in community music schools, churches, private schools, colleges and universities in FL, GA, MO, NC, NJ and TN.  While working at a school in St. Louis, MO, Mr. Wilds received several honors for his work with high school-level musicians.  He was award an Outstanding District Director Award for the St. Louis Metro District by the Missouri Choral Directors Association; a Merit Award by the St. Louis Metropolitan District Eight of the Missouri Music Educators Association; and his high school choir was invited to sing at the 2003 Missouri Music Educators Association annual convention.

During the 2009-2010 academic year, Mr. Wilds will be teaching at

He will also be serving as the Interim Director of the Asheville Symphony Children's Chorus.
